Some people have entered my DM probably due to my recent comments on twitter let me try to address it here.
Dr Mensah Otabil is a father to many and has helped many through school, paid medical bills and generally improved lives and affected livelihoods, he is a voice in our land, he gives to the poor, reaches out to the sick, appeals to leadership, speaks to power, empowers the down trodden and his messages uplift the soul. I once in a while listen to His messages on hope, leadership and empowerment and they have been of immense help to my person. Many of his prodigies have also affected lives in many ways and the ripple effect goes on and on unabated.
In the wake of recent happenings involving an entity of which he served as Chairman of the board, many allegations have been made, some damning, some outright criminal, and some defamatory. I have been one of those calling for a probe and prosecution (definition: the continuation of a course of action with a view to its completion). Calling for a probe here is for the persons mentioned in these allegations to come clean and clear their names. Is it too much to ask for closure?. Taxpayers monies were used to bail out a bank (normal practice) those monies were misappropriated and further used to setup other banks under very fraudulent and hideous circumstances (not sure if it was a business strategy) those banks further went insolvent and in all of these some of Doc’s former aides and prodigy’s were mentioned?
Now, no one can decide for you who to stand with or who to support, that is a choice you are entitled to make but know this, the demand for probe is not or has never been an attack on any person, we only do not want for this to be swept under the carpets, no one is above the law, No one, not the President, not some Reverend minister, Member of Parliament, nor Imam. We need answers to questions: who is paying back the approx ¢8b Which has added about 2.6% to our Debt to GDP ratio? what were the actions or inaction of the mentioned individuals in all of this?
As you stand by one person know that many names have been mentioned, they have followers too but the truth must win. The outcome of this would surely set precedence for future occurrences, what should we do when it’s not your Pastor in the crosshairs, what should we do when it is a regular Joe or Jane, what should your kids do when this happens in future? Should they shut-up and join #iStandWith campaigns or join campaigns like #PressForProbe and #WeDemandProsecution ? Let’s set the right precedence, that is what the rule of law is to safeguard and it must be invoked in its entirety in this matter. Again this is not an attack on any individual or religion neither on any religious denomination, this is a call for cleansing, a thirst for sanity and a demand for closure. No one is above the law, no one must be made to think so.
