Hi! I’m Koku,

a serial entrepreneur with over a decade experience in Ghana’s tech and startup ecosystem. I have in the past raised venture capital and angel investment to implement various projects.

I was co-founder of one of Africa’s foremost e-commerce startups (Yougora Ltd), a business we built, scaled and pivoted into many other verticals including courier, and payments and exited. With an amazing team, we embarked on many projects around EdTech (233Law), HealthTech (Pulse App), and FinTech. With major investments from Ghana based Lifeforms Ltd, UK-based Indigo trust, Senegal-based OSIWA and others, these projects impacted the lives of thousands of users.

I am passionate about small and medium scale enterprises and the key role they play in creating employment, empowering women and youth, and developing local communities with new-age technologies. Today, i am part of a consortium that helps businesses prioritise, analyse, utilise and predict future trends with data, and deploy innovation around AI, social media.

I also play roles in guiding and connecting local ideas to investment, primarily through my work with Seedstars; A global impact VC fund. My recent engagement here saw me mentor select startups in Ghana, Kenya and Tanzania, seeking a total $1m investment for impact projects from Germany’s GIZ.

I have also been involved in policy formulation, including Ghana’s Open Data Policy which created a legal and operational framework to open government datasets. This allowed startups build innovative products for communal benefit. Key recommendations from that paper would be adopted by many other African economies.
