Ok so the Consumer Electronic tradeShow 2014 happened in LasVegas from January 7 and scheduled to close on the 10th of the month. Over the period i have been wowed by the amazing technology, the cars, the laser technology, the robots, the drones, the shhs that are silencing TVs, the wow’s that are triggering tech emotive and the many other  innovations that have have thronged the fair grounds in Nevada; needless to talk of the many new-age research that have not only idealized  but also concretize the way people would think in 2014 and beyond.

The CES is practically the show that considers the tech resolutions of the past year and sets off the the tech revolution for the incumbent year. it is important to also point out that many of the record breaking purchase negotiations are started off at this fair. This years edition of the annual event has been touted as the largest show ever in CES history, The CEA (the organizing committee) claimed that the event, which hosted the presentations of 3,200 exhibitors, covered a record two million net square feet of exhibit space, that, of the 150,000 attendees, about 35,000 (23%) were from outside of the U.S.

Below are some of the amazing tech trends that would mean a lot and price high this year and beyond.

The 4K Resolution Revolution

Just when the world was getting comfortable and naively loving the usual 2K (The top-end regular HDTV format, 1080p having a 1920 x 1080 pixels). the advent of the intuitive and  amazing 4K technology brings a whole new world of entertainment to bear redefining the word “picturesque”. The 4K UHD has a resolution of 3840 pixels × 2160 lines (8.3 megapixel, aspect ratio 16:9) and is one of the two resolutions of ultra high definition television targeted towards consumer television. Already, Tech giants such as Sony, Samsung and LG have launched out to grab a first bite on the big screen pie.

Talking smart Gadgets

As far as this year goes you would definitely be able to communicate to your home appliance via voice or SMS. at the CES 2014 many manufacturers came laden with communication activated appliances that are listening to human interactions and taking action. at the fair, Lynx Grills showcased a voice-activated smart grill (to be commercialized in 2015) that serves up food based on user preferences The grill determines the best cooking time, technique and even where the items should go. It can also send SMS alerts to keep the griller on top of its status.

Samsung also displayed its smart fridge that can offer recipe ideas based on what you have in your fridge, there’s the Evernote app for shared grocery lists, so you can add to the list while your partner is shopping and the update will appear on their mobile device almost instantly. Samsung has promised the device would hit consumer shops later this year.

Whirlpool showed off an amazing interactive cooktop concept that not only turns a typical kitchen surface into a stovetop, but also a place to check the weather, find recipes on Pinterest, research cooking tips and post pictures to Facebook, Though the technology is targeting a release in 2020, it is a well anticipated piece of an appliance.

Clothing gadgets

Soon in the coming years we would see techie clothing making waves; people would have a base cloth and design whatever however they want over it. As imaginary as this may sound it shouldn’t be long. Many wearable gadgets have debuted at this year’s CES fair ranging from the iGrow helmet by Apira Science which is said to be curing baldness by stimulating weak hair follicles to work but the helmet would not work for those who are completely bald :-(.

Also now you do not have to carry the traditional phone as an extra necessary accessory to handle, with the new Neptune Pine you can have your phone sit on your wrist as though it was a wrist watch sporting an android 4.1 OS I cannot begin to tell you the endless possibilities with this great invention.

I anticipate 2014 being a year marked with great, trendy and relevant technology that would change many cultures and even change the way we live. i would not be amazed to be walking down the street and find a human android as robots are getting bigger and smarter. I look forward to a smarter world and i would be unaccomplished in this piece without challenging and inciting the capability of Africa and its tech community.

I wish you all a Techie new year #MoreVim
